Satu kejadian berlaku di Loji Kuasa Nuklear Akkuyu, yang masih dalam pembinaan di Mersin, selatan Turki. Media Turki tempatan, harian “cumhuriyet” melaporkan ini pada Ahad (31/10).
“Pembinaan loji tenaga nuklear Turki di Mersin telah menjadi bencana bagi Turki dan Mersin,” kata Ali Mahir Başarır, ahli suruhanjaya parlimen Turki dari Parti Rakyat Republikan (CHP) mengenai insiden itu.
Kebakaran berlaku selepas satu letupan pada alatubah elektrik dan menyebabkan panik di kalangan pekerja serta orang ramai di kawasan itu.
“Sekarang ada kebakaran dalam transformer. Seperti yang saya katakan sebelum ini, dengan loji tenaga nuklear ini, mereka meletakkan dinamit di Mersin, di bawah Mediterranean,” kata ahli parlimen itu.
Beliau juga menyatakan bahawa Turki sedang membina loji nuklear dengan kerjasama Rusia sementara mereka masih belum memutuskan apa yang perlu dilakukan dengan sisa nuklearnya.
